Stephen Lozano earns SPED Level 1 – Professional Piping Designer Certification

We’re proud to announce that Stephen Lozano has recently earned his Society of Piping Engineers and Designers (SPED) Level I – Professional Piping Designer (PPD) certification. A recent graduate of Lehigh University with a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering, Steve joined James Controls full-time in January 2026 as a Junior Engineer.
This first-level SPED certification demonstrates a strong foundation in piping layout and design, including design for fabrication, material selection and specification, piping and equipment layout, and the ability to apply recognized industry standards such as ASME B31.3, B31.1, and API 1104.
The Level I certification further reflects proficiency in developing accurate schematic and dimensioned piping drawings using modern CAD technologies, while designing piping to support fabrication, erection, inspection, and maintenance requirements.
We look forward to supporting Steve’s professional development and are excited to have him as part of the James Controls team.
