JAMES CONTROLS BECOMES COAST GUARD CERTIFYING ENTITY FOR MARINE VAPOR CONTROL SYSTEMS
The US Coast Guard has confirmed that James Controls is a Certifying Entity for Marine Vapor Control Systems. Owners of dockside Marine Vapor Recovery and Destruction Units are required to have their systems recertified every 5 years or whenever a modification is made. Certification involves a review of the design documents, dock manual, P&IDs, latest PHA, equipment specifications to ensure compliance. An initial site visit is made to verify that the documents match the field, ensure labeling, verify electrical continuity, witness that all alarms and shutdowns are operational etc. Once all documentation is reviewed, a final site visit is made to witness system operation during an actual cargo loading, record loading rate. Upon completion a report is filed with the Coast Guard and a copy provided to the customer.
